I know absolutely nothing about this topic, so my view is: It's fine for
2.2.x when all of the people contributing to this thread are happy with it.
I can confirm that, if I force clang++ as compiler, LyX 2.2.x happily
compiles with Qt4. Therefore, I propose to do nothing.
