One possible use case I just came across was that I wanted to Alert
two columns of a larger table in beamer. I had to go through each cell
and click on the Text Style > Alert. Would be nice to not having to do
that.

By the way, did you know that "Beamer" is the German word for
"projector"? Germans have so many funny words that sound English but
are not. Another is "Handy" which is the word for "mobile phone".
Hi racoon,
Sorry to have to correct you ;-)
'Beamer' is no German word at all (by origin) as the pronunciation
proofs, and therefore cannot be the German word for 'projector'.
This is not withstanding the fact that Germans do use the English word
'beamer' in the same way as they nowadays use so many other English
words, e.g. the word 'cool'. This is trendy, nothing else.
The German word for 'projector' is 'Projektor'.
PS: and the words "Kindergarten"and "Poltergeist" are German and both
are used in the English speaking world as well.
And by the way, did you know that 60 - 70% of English words derive from
Latin (as does the word 'projector')?
Note: we are about to misusing the list >:o
Since it is in the book about German spelling I thought, in at least one
sense, it is German (http://www.duden.de/suchen/dudenonline/beamer).
Yes, let's stop and focus on the strictly LyX content of my post. :)
