Strange. It is American Astronomical Society (AASTeX v6) here with 
LyX 2.2.0 under Debian/testing.

Here, American Astronomical Society (AASTeX) is greyed out as unavailable.

Did you reconfigure LyX after installing/updating aastex?

The template aastex6.lyx and the example file lyx/examples/aas_sample.lyx
that comes with 2.2.0 use the aastex6 document class and should work if you
have aastex6.cls installed and LyX reconfigured.
