I don't have time to discuss this right now. But your addition of those dependencies itself caused a regression: One of the packages you require is not actually required on all systems, so users not on Windows were getting an error about needing to install a package they do not actually need to install.
That is not correct. The dependency I added is required an all LaTeX systems when you use the latest versions of the packages from CTAN. The user uses older package versions that do not have the new dependencies. However, as soon as he updates his LaTeX packages he will need it. I don't understand why we must act here because the user can safely ignore the warning he gets.
We have had this conversation many times before: It's fine for you to want to install lots of packages with the Windows installer; I do see why you want to do that.
But I explained why. The goal is that you can pick anybody from the street advertise LyX and he gives it a try at home. He doesn't need to know anything about a concept called package, a concept called distribution or a program called LaTeX. Thus the Win installer is designed to give a fully functional LyX with everything that LyX supports and will all packages that are necessary to compile our example/doc/template files.
But if that's what you want to do, then you should do it in the installer.
Sorry we speak here about providing doc files. It is a shame if our doc files are not compilable - that would prove for new users that LyX is not a stable program.

dependencies to modules and layout files is not the right way to do it.
No, they are necessary as I explained and as you can try out by your own. regards Uwe btw. gmane seems to be down and I don't get any mails from the list anymore.
