Yes I'd say that if pasting works, then this works, too.
I was just quoting James's additional comment to make the report
complete. You would have to ask him whether this part of his experience
is just the expected behavior.
My own experience has nothing to do with "wrong pasting", it's about
whether it does anything at all or not (-> 'command disabled' message).
