Actually, the French spell-checker is also good for French (Canada). I cannot check the files you want me to check because it seems that they are not included with the email.
However, I did look deeper into the subject, and it appears that babel does nothing special for French (Canada), and I can get the main adjustment needed for French (Canada) by using \frenchbsetup{ThinColonSpace=true} in the preamble. This way, I just set my language to French and everything is ok. I just guess that other French-Canadian will have the same problem as I got if they choose French (Canada) as their language, so maybe you could do what you suggest: " I can implement that the French spell-checker is also used for French (Canada)." But note that there are also other variants of the French language. See the table on pages 5 and 6 of the following document : http://parokia.kre.hu/lelkesz/latex/babel.pdf I believe that you could do the same fix for the acadian people, because they normally write in standard French even though their spoken language is different. I notice that there are also variants for English, Greek... However, I believe that these should be more concerned with text formatting than with spelling, but I might be wrong. Thanks a lot. 2013/4/9 LyX Ticket Tracker <t...@lyx.org> > #8629: Impossible to spell check French-Canadian > --------------------+--------------------- > Reporter: Steph | Owner: stwitt > Type: defect | Status: new > Priority: normal | Milestone: > Component: spell | Version: > Severity: normal | Resolution: > Keywords: | > --------------------+--------------------- > > Comment (by uwestoehr): > > You absolutely need to use the document language "French (Canada)"?
