I have changed my mind over the years. :-)
However there is one very good reason for letting lyx handle
dead_keys: we can then assign any lyx-func to that key.

With the XmbLookup we can only provide, well, keys.

With xforms 0.89 there is no problem to send the dead keysym to the
dispatch, the problem is that the state in XmbLookup needs to be reset
and to accomplish that we need access to the IC so that we can run
XmbResetIC on it. XForms then eiter need a function to reset the IC,
or a function that returns the IC.
