The Windows installer "LyX-1.6.9-2-Installer.exe" has the wrong path to
MiKTeX and will therefore not properly install on a MiKTeX-less system. I
would really appreciate it if someone could fix this ASAP, as I'm giving a
presentation on LyX to about 90 people tomorrow. Running the installer with
a trace under Wine (doesn't work on real Windows either), it appears that
the installer is looking for the file:
http://www.ctan.org/get/systems/win32/miktex/setup/basic-miktex-2.9.3972.exe
where it looks like it should be looking for:
http://mirrors.ctan.org/systems/win32/miktex/setup/basic-miktex-2.9.3972.exe
Thanks so much for looking into this issue.

Hi Erich,
Thanks for your report.
Since you are short on time I would suggest you install miktex manually
as a workaround. Then install LyX.
