The Windows installer "LyX-1.6.9-2-Installer.exe" has the wrong path to MiKTeX and will therefore not properly install on a MiKTeX-less system. I would really appreciate it if someone could fix this ASAP, as I'm giving a presentation on LyX to about 90 people tomorrow. Running the installer with a trace under Wine (doesn't work on real Windows either), it appears that the installer is looking for the file:
