AFAICS, LyX installs with all the locales in e.g. /usr/local/lyx-trunk/share/locale/, so it should be able to run in whatever language I like. The only exception may be availability of additional fonts that I may need (e.g., starting it in Chinese...).
IIRC some support files are needed for each locale at system level. JMarc
