It is funny since I did not remember the details but according to http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=fedora Fedora 12 had the 2.6.31.5 kernel, and that is precisely the version where I remember that those problems were gone for me. At that time I had some problems with the graphics card/driver (with the kernel mode setting turned on) that sometimes would freeze the display and thus trashing some file. Until this day I almost never open facebook in this laptop even although the crashes are gone for more than a year, at the same time not having facebook turned on helps my productivity so I do not see any reason to change the status quo. ;-) Since the battery has capacity problems I had the system turned off uncleanly with not other incovenience (other than to plug it and expecting it to turn on with the display ready to work). > of course i would be happy to remove all workarounding stuff and let > previous version of backuping. > pavel I suspect that these problems are specific of the kernels between 2.6.29 (28?) and 2.6.31 when using ext4. This is what I remember but I admit to be wrong. -- José Abílio
