That looks weird indeed. Which spell checker backend do you use? Is it the same when you change it? E. g. from aspell to hunspell... And there is a difference in compiler optimization flags. Can you try to configure with identical release build options? Both with --enable-build-type=development (or release or prerelease) Stephan
