True. I couldn't parse your sentence. That's why I asked.

The previous state of CVS backend was bad. My colleges and I, we are using LyX
for
productive work to document our software. We're combine it with CVS since years.
All the time we're using a patched version of 1.5 to be able to do so.
We had to do so because of our readonly checkouts.
This patch never went in because in 1.5 the situation was not that bad for the
common (out of the CVS box - writable checkout) usage.

As I tried to switch to 1.6 I learned two things:
1. CVS backend usage was broken and
2. my patch (obviously) did not work anymore.
Now, I have an patch at hand again. I can continue to use and provide a patched
version
for my colleges, of course. But I claim it's useful for others, too.
The current CVS backend is working as the menu items suggest. And I'll add the
documentation.
Jürgen said, the time window is closing. That's why I made the backport patch
first.
