Ok, now I've a working spell checker with the "remove from personal dictionary" 
feature for mac.
So I'd say Mac spell checker support is in a good shape. I've compiled it with 
success on Linux too.
The patch I posted this morning...

This week I'm able to do something about it, e.g. commit the thing. 
It would be nice to get the Ok to commit from you.
 
The next two weeks I'm on vacation and I don't know if I can work on LyX, the 
family has some rights too...

My next target (for beta phase?) would be to check the installation issues on 
mac to make the application working out-of-the-box.
