Yes, it makes problems even when kbd maps are completely switched off. But only some documents cause the problem (long, complicated). I have one document which deterministically causes the problem (lyx steals the keyboard focus) when on NFS mounted home. When it is on local volume, it is OK.

What kind of debugging shall I do (debug option + some filtering)? It is very annoying - I've been using lyx since for many years (>10) (mostly on linux) and my recent jump on mac version is a bit frustrating....

Also, one more point abut the lyx-local-keymaps. It might have been dictated at the beginning by the localization problems on X but it is still _very_ useful feature. It allows you to use localized kbd on text and once the cursor is inside the equation it automatically switches to no-kbd-map = it is a huge advantage for accessing all those {^,\,_,$...} --- please keep this feature in the future versions!

no, if its not freeze and lyx still works, it will be difficult to pinpoint
something from the log.

- lyx keeps apparently the keyboard focus, the mouse more-or-less works,
lyx still performs all the commands (e.g. editing, saving, ..) but does
not release the keyboard for other apps not even the system itself
(cmd-tab).
so it is not freezing, but stealing keyboard focus. i remember to see
somewhat similar report in trac - http://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/5917 .

my guess it that using kbd maps could be the source. are you able to reproduce
the problem when kbd maps are switched off? they are residual from old times
when it was not easy to setup keyboard settings directly in X and shouldn't be
needed today except for some exotic usage.
