Hi all
I discovered several times that the quality of pdf-files (at least at
the screen) is much much much worse when the package "fontenc" is
included (using pdflatex). Unfortunately lyx includes the package
fontenc by standard (why actually? Even Umlauts work fine with only
inputenc) and doesn't even give the option to deselect (or does it?).
The only possibility to produce readable pdf-files is to export a
tex-file and manually remove the package from the tex-file.
Is no-body else producing pdf-files or nobody noticing the big
difference? Fortunately I am not producing pdf-files so frequently,
otherwise I would have complained already some years ago ;-) .
I have checked the difference with several viewers: kpdf, evince, okular
and acroread. For all of them it's much better without the
fontenc-package. So I really suggest to make also the fontenc package
optional.
I'm curious to hear about other people's experience.
