What gives me pause is that elyxer has a status that's neither a standard component of LyX (which would be automatically bundled and supported) nor an easily installed add-on (which wouldn't require that we do anything except point to it in the wiki). Consequently, I think we ought to be careful here to ensure consistency over time and over changes in binary distributors. It's in general not a good thing to provide a feature in earlier releases and fail to provide it in later releases, and, impressed though I am with elyxer's progress to date, I'm worried about its status several years into the future. By the way, imagemagick is now (as of 10.5? or was it 10.4?) a standard part of OS X -- no macports required. BH
