| I think the problem lies with the new menu code. I've tried running LyX
| with 'setenv LANG es' (I use tcsh), and everything worked in Spanish
| except the menus. For example, one you have a new document, the
| 'Layout->Document' form is in Spanish, but the menu name is in English.
|
| For the menus there should be a decision on how to translate these. The
| (English) default definitions are in the file lib/ui/default.ui .
|
| I would like to suggest having ${LANG}_default.ui files for each language.
| Then LyX::ReadUIFile (in lyx_main.C), if the filename is 'default', and
| LANG is set in the environment, and a file named '${LANG}_default' exists,
| read that file and not default.ui .
|
| I don't know much about i18n, and there may be a better solution using
| gettext.

We are already using gettext to translate the english terms in
default.ui why do you have a problem with that?

Of course you need an updated .po file...
