Lyx2lyx reverts to \hspace*{1cm+1mm-2mm} and \hspace*{1cm+-1mm} but the correct LaTeX syntax is \hspace*{1cm plus 1mm minus 2mm} and \hspace*{1cm plus 1mm minus 1mm} Look at the LaTeX output of the original file.
