Hi,
There was a request on the user list (which I thought sensible) to
provide theorem modules that number theorems, lemmas, propositions etc.
separately, rather than all using the theorem counter. IIRC, this is
the default behavior for LaTeX. I've put a set of hacked modules, along
with four small test documents to confirm that they work as expected, at
http://mgt.bus.msu.edu/~rubin/theorems.zip. If you decide to adopt
these, feel free to change the names (I used "by type" to signify
numbering within species) and also to check/adjust the required/excluded
modules. I suspect that, should they be adopted, the current theorem
and AMS theorem modules will need to be adjusted to exclude collisions
with these.
I did not produce a by-type within-chapter/section variant of the
extended AMS module, although that would be, to quote an old math
professor, "tedious but brutally straight-forward".
Cheers,
Paul
