Well, I'll keep the traffic to the devel-list.

The reason for a 1.6.2 report is in my case simply that I have shamelessly
avoided  installing 1.6.0 and 1.6.1

I tried the same document now at a Pentium 4, 3Ghz, 1GB Ram, Windows XP,
Alternative Installer 1.6.1 - AND there is a similar behaviour but not as
worse!!!
* all files are stored local
* the document consists of one master with children and in some of them
children again, many pictures inside the children

-> inside master: not as worse as with 1.6.2 on a Core2 Duo T7300 @ 2GHz, 1.58
GHz, 2GB ram, WinXP Laptop BUT it is remarkable slow (typing delayed; even
marking with mouse delayed too !!!);
-> inside child doc without children: "no problems"
-> inside child doc with children: I'm not sure; possibly "no problems"
-> inside master as soon as the children with children are removed: much
better; possibly "no problems" again

-> no measureable network traffic in windows task-manager (but this is only a
%-time plot from MSoft)

Thank's
