i agree.
as a corollary:
i also never understood why (or when) people would like to have an unsorted
list.
Unsorted means, sorted in order of appearance in the document...
.. which causes labels that are close together and maybe related are
next to each other in the list.
it seems to me that we should either have the sort box checked by default, or
simply remove it and show a sorted list...
