FYI I have tried to implement the ideal procedure (chose the first action in
sequence that is enabled). But it doesn't work. The toolbar icons are only set
once. In order to implement this, we would need to reset (at least the
command-alternatives) icons on every mouse press and cursor movement. I don't
know if it'd be worth the hassle. I can't imagine that we really want to
dynamically change the icon in a toolbar that way.
OK, thanks for trying. As Pavel said, what you already have it a big
improvement.
