If I would like to change the way a section heading appears in the TOC, I would start by right-clicking a section heading and look for a menu item that does what I want. So, shouldn't we blame ourselves that there isn't a context-menu item called "Insert Short Title" ?
Sure, that would be nice... but are you aware that context menu is new in 1.6? :-)
