Hi,

I need some input on a question related to allowing other sites (e.g. Alex, .ru) to mirror the LyX web site.

The main obstacle that remains is how to distribute the actual content of the web pages, and my best idea so far is to simply commit them into the repository.

The only possible drawback I see is that this makes not only the current version of the web pages available to everyone, but also the entire history.

To phrase it differently, are we likely to have stuff in the history of the web pages that may not be distributed to anybody?

A partial workaround might be to only commit some of the "official" web pages to the repository.

Another workaround might be to restrict the access to www-user/ (I'm not sure if this is possible).

I'm grateful for input on this issue, and reluctant just start comitting files.

regards,
Christian

PS. I might eventually merge the backends of the web site and the wiki site. In this case, I'm pretty sure we _don't_ want all the pages comitted to the repository.

PPS. It might be an option to somehow purge the history of files before comitting them...
