and also how we could check for their availability (if we use a combo, we 
would be desirable indeed, we should indicate which fonts the user can 
actually use, as we do with the Latin fonts).

So I think the text field is OK as a first step, unless some more 
CJK-experienced developper improves the UI comfort.

Which font do you want to hardcode? I doubt that CJK languages do have some 
kind of "national" or "canonic" typeface. 
Furthermore I suppose that CJK users also appreciate some typographic 
variation. You would not be very satisfied with a limitation of French to 
Garamond either, would you ;-)

(actually, the empty font argument is supposed to use a "standard" font for a 
given encoding, so if something like this works at all, there's no need to 
set the font in language).
