There is nothing wrong to include a pdf file just in case the recipient can not compile your .lyx file. My approach certainly allows so but the recipient needs to go to settings->embedded files and view. So the question is whether or not you want make this somehow standard and provide a convenient way to include and view such 'prebuilt' pdf files. Cheers, Bo
