  Bo asked me last week to delay the release of the first alpha to allow the 
removal of embedded feature. That is the only single reason why alpha2 has 
not been out last week.

  Please note that before RC stage code clean-up is OK, as long as the leading 
developer is accountable for the changes and fixes problems that come up 
quickly. So far André's work has been under this category.

  Regarding features for 1.6 IMHO we are mostly there, for me the only 
question is we will have an embedding feature tracking the different ideas 
that come during the different threads.
