Agreed. A simple directory structure without old files makes things easier.

As an aside, I don't see a big problem with keeping the old web site in a
separate structure under old/. Not a priority, but not a problem either.
It might also feel a bit safer if I first migrate the files to old, rather
than deleting them from subversion directly.
