Would it be possible to add a preference that would turn off the text completion cursor? I was using 1.6 to do some documentation work today, and I found the switch from "|" to ">"---close enough---somewhat distracting. And it doesn't help me, because I won't use completion in text mode. So it'd be nice to be able to turn it off altogether.
It would perhaps be even better simply to have a "turn off text-mode completion altogether" preference that would also stop word collection. I'm a bit worried about what this will do to slow machines, e.g., my very old but much loved 750MHz PIII Vaio laptop.
