I got it:The font package "mathptmx" interferes for an unknown reason with the textcomp-package. As you don't have the latin modern fonts installed, mthptmx is used besides other fonts to get nice looking PDFs.
To do this is recommended in many internet resources like in Herbert Voss' Tips and Tricks page.
I'll think about a solution. For the meantime, install the latin modern fonts and it works. regards Uwe
