The macro part takes 20% of the runtime, when writing math at the document end. I already have ideas how to reduce that. Otherwise there are a lot of metrics and draw calls around taking much time. Not sure if that is related to macros at all.

Hi Stefan!
Here it is. (It was also the file, where I had the problems with the
math-macro-child-document, so I explicitly included the math-macros. The
former input-version, however, is still present in a note directly
before the macros)
Note also that this file does not compile correctly, as I have not
included my preamble (also an extra file). In addition there is a bug
with the index-insets, which also causes Latex-errors. But I will report
that seperately. I think this should not matter for the slowness
problem.
You need to go to a later section, in order to discover the problem:
For example, navigate to appendix C (Bianchi identities for the
torsion), click into the first equation, and try to type.

P.S.: finally I decided to also attach my preamble, akthough I don't
think, you'll need it.

Yes please. Need to see the file.

Stefan
