the important thing that i added is that now you can enter shortcuts
that are not taken by the dialog

You can things will be taken by OK, Cancel buttons? That is important.

yes. so if the cancel button is triggered by Alt+C it is atm not possible to enter this in the shortcut edit.

the new version intercepts these shortcuts

Linux, x86_64, RHEL4, qt422.  I can only enter keys with modifier
(Alt, shift and control), and the second modifier key symbol will
replace the first one.

i will try to fire up my old linux laptop to investigate. fwiw, on windows it works fine...
