Anything that brings up the file dialog crashes,
including older lyx binaries.
"Save As" and "Open" fails the same way - I didn't notice
before because I don't use those much.
I'll try changing my qt version, and file a bug against
qt if that helps.
Only if it fails with the latest release filing a bug would

This is getting mysterious.
libqt version 4.3.1-2 fails, installing the newer 4.3.2-1
fails in exactly the same way. Debian doesn't have other
qt4 versions. Lyx 1.6svn as well as 1.5 crash
when using the file dialog with either version.
But only on this one machine. My 64-bit home pc
also has qt 4.3.1-2, and has no problems.
Are there any other apps using qt4?
