We already have many items
under the View menu, and a shortcut-only hidden feature is not that
appealing.
Also, let me propose some rework of the View menu (independently
from the master-buffer-view being accepted or not):

View
+- Zoom
| +- Increase 20% (C-+)
| +- Decrease 20% (C--)
| +- 100% (C-1)
| +- 150% (C-5)
| +- 200% (C-2)
+- Items to show
| +- Open all insets
| +- Close all insets
| +- [x] Show images (on screen)
| +- [x] Show comments
+----------------------- (separator)
+- Preview Buffer
| +- PDF
| +- HTML
| +- ...
+- Update Buffer
| +- PDF
| +- HTML
| +- ...
+- Preview Master
| +- PDF
| +- HTML
| +- ...
+- Update Master
| +- PDF
| +- HTML
| +- ...
+----------------------- (separator)
+- Toolbars
  +- [x] Standard
  +- ...

Finally, the list of open files fits better into the Browse/Navigate
menu, doesn't it ?

IMHO, the items above would fit better into what a user would like
(or would have a habit) to see under such a menu -- look at common text
editors e.g. OOo. Actually, the Preview->Postscript is a kind of what
is usually under "File->Print Preview" for most applications, but in
the case of LyX, it fits better where it is now.

The move of the preview items into submenus is also useful should
the number of ways to preview increase in the future.

Ok, I confess I also inserted a couple of feature requests over there....

Just a suggestion, please feel free to comment on it.

Last but not least: I can contribute to the code, if needed, for some
of these things I'm proposing, of course...
