BTW, if we use .lyz for embedded lyx file so there will be *no confusing* that every file in .lyz is embedded, and every file in .lyx is external. Your simplification seems to be acceptable. The problem then is still easy conversion between the two formats. In my current AUTO implementation, external path is always saved and there is no changed to the plain-text .lyx file. So, embedding is more like a coat that can be put on/off easily, without changing the way we work with .lyx file. Cheers, Bo
