Humm, I mean I cannot reproduce with trunk. Sorry for not being able to
read. :-/
I am able to reproduce with trunk too:
1) Open a document
2) Click on the "insert figure float" button.
3) Move out of the float with the right arrow key
4) Backspace (the float is deleted)
5) Click again of the same button -> BOOM!
