If you are not a developer and you need listings you throw away LyX, and when
you are developer but you don't need it then you are not interested in
implementing it. But I agree that it is a bad timing that we wanna add it now.

What are the risks?
Some more bug reports? We will never have a zero bug release.
When a user could circumvent the risk by simple
not using listings then I think it is ok.
