personally i would prefer that the minibuffer would auto hide if it
looses focus (or after enter)...
A few times I've copied-and-pasted things to the mini-buffer, i.e. long
command sequences. Here it would have been annoying if it closed
automaically just because it lost focus...
I like Jurgen's idea.
