What do we call the release(s) just before the first stable release?
LyX1.5.0-alpha0
LyX1.5.0-beta0
LyX1.5.0-pre0 or LyX1.5.0-rc0
Three people preferred release candidate over prerelease at

and via posts to this list I've seen two or three "I don't really" care.
Let me put it differently. Does anyone have any reason for switching to
the use of "release candidate" instead of "prerelease"?
If no one objects within a day or two I'll adjust the ANNOUNCE and README
accordingly, and try to see what else should be changed.
