I'll be doing installer stuff this weekend - starting this afternoon actually. Will any of the usual suspects also be doing installer stuff, or be around for answering questions?

Primarily I plan to get through the code bases, i.e. understanding them. As a part of this I intend to work a bit on adding comments, and possibly some minor reshuffling/refactoring. (Thereby improving readability etc)

As soon as I start committing there's a risk of mistakes - especially as I don't know NSIS. A while back I asked Joost about committing to the installer code. My suggestion was that I'd work in a branch, so that others could then look at the patches before transferring stuff to trunk. However, Joost preferred that I'd do it directly in trunk.

I'd like some input on this. What do you (Uwe, Bo, Joost and others) think? Should I commit directly to trunk or first work in a branch?

Another alternative is that I send NSIS patches to the list first. Unfortunately, I suspect this will lead to long waits that hamper my effort this weekend. This will of course depend on what the other installer developers have planned this weekend.

Best regards
/Christian
