I am not in the installer business but I recommend to develop in trunk; especially so that you are very few to work on this.
Another alternative is that I send NSIS patches to the list first.
When you don't know, I of course suggest that you do that. Joost or Uwe will then have a chance to drive you. But I suggest that you commit directly the simple changes.
At the end of the Week-end, if everything is broken, we'll simply revert your change ;-)
