Maybe it is possible to merge in Kile as a editor for plain TeX.

Currently LyX only uses Qt not kdelibs, so it is not optimal integrated into
KDE.
In future kdelibs is also available on Mac/Windows so this is not a Linux-only
project.
By the way, I've read somewhere that the kde-windows team (which I guess
you are part of) are writting an installer similar to the cygwin one.
Maybe they could add LyX to their repository?
