Maybe it is possible to merge in Kile as a editor for plain TeX.

Currently LyX only uses Qt not kdelibs, so it is not optimal integrated into
KDE.
In future kdelibs is also available on Mac/Windows so this is not a Linux-only
project.
What is the minimum required for being a KDE application? Something like
deriving from KApplication?
