1. Joost and Uwe: Why do you guys prefer ; instead of # for comments?

Somewhat related... I noticed both the installer codes have lines longer
than say 75 characters per line. This was quite annoying when I printed
the copies. Is there a particular reason for this?
Another question. Could either of you explain why a macro should be used
instead of a function? (I can sort of understand this for when a
corresponding uninstaller function should do this, but are there other
cases?).
3. Poll: is it a good idea to ask users to upgrade miktex after it is
installed? I vote no because the new version might not work.
I have no real opinion here.
