That's because Emacs was a console app originally. It is no surprise
that it does thing wrong with the mouse ;-)
I can set the selection using the
keyboard, and it is useful that way.
You are already prepared to use the mouse so why do you want to use the
keyboard when selecting and then the mouse for pasting?
If it's only for positionning the cursor then use the clipboard:
1) keyboard select
2) Ctrl-c
3) mouse click somewhere
4) Ctrl-v
You are mixing the X Selection and the Clipboard concepts here and it is
against the "simple model" principle Georg was talking about.
