If I am not mistaken, the following patch should make menus work fine
in english. If it does, I will apply it and then we will research what
to do for localized versions.

Yes: everything seems to be where it belongs, and the extra LyX menu has disappeared.

I did notice one thing, though. As I have reported before, when a dialog is frontmost, most of the menus disappear, except for the LyX menu (which, of course, is not standard behavior on Mac: unusable menu options should be grayed out). However, the LyX menu in this case does not have an "About LyX" item, and the "Preferences" item is grayed out. I don't know if this is relevant....
