No, it should not be translated.

The latter.

BTW these strings come from the math dialog and are not correctly formatted
(tabs vs. spaces). We can not know at all the tab width used by qt, so the
alignment should be done with spaces.

That comes probably from the beamer layout file. I suggest to have a look at
the beamer manual.
