Hello all,
I have been busy, but I would like to give a short update on some of
the
issues raised. I intend to reply in detail to those messages either tomorrow
night or Saturday.

Regarding the .C issue, although I don't like them, I think that we should
postpone this to 1.6. Lars has requested this before, since he has a ready to
go branch for xml file format. We should probably place this in the wiki to
avoid the repetition of ever lasting threads. (Christian are you reading
this? ;-)

Regarding the feature freeze, my understanding is that we should consider all
code already present in lyx tree. That means that, for example, most of
Georg's code applies, although I would like to consider it on a case by case
basis.

I agree with Asger assertion of having a list of points where we should work
before 1.5. Looking to experiences from other projects I always remember the
green, yellow and red phases of kde. :-)

I think that we should establish a set of tests for latex output. That is we
should a create a file(s) that illustrate all the convertion we want to do on
the output. This will help when comparing fixing/coding this stuff.
Lars had an interesting idea while in Denmark, we could split the unicode like
this:

Range File
128-255 latin-1
256-xxx latin-2
yyy-zzz .......

Since we know the codepoints of the unicode characters this would give us a
metadirectory where the convertions could be found.

Each file would then have a column like structure like this

unicode_codepoint native_codepoint latex
128 128 ...
... ... ...
200                     200                             \'{E}

and so on. I can more details later.
