As to experiment wether LyX is really that slow or not, I've made a
little experiment:
1) Open the UserGuide in 5 different windows (choose "Switch to
document" in order to have synchronized view of the same document.
2) type as fast as you can.
There's an almost imperceptible delay before each character is shown on
screen (I'd say less that 0.2 seconds) and the 5 views are updated at
the same time on two different screens; my laptop has a dual head video
card:
- 3 window on the CRT screen
- 2 window on my laptop screen
I don't know about linux and MacOS but I personally don't need LyX to be
any faster, thank you very much.
